Executive Board (CFO, COO, CEO, etc.)

Also known as CEO, CFO, COO, etc.

A board member is a person who is responsible for a business or aspect of a business (marketing, operations, etc.) at the executive level.

The executive board of a company or organization is responsible for all key decisions. A Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is the highest decision-maker. Other officers on the board include the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Chief Information Officer (CIO), the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), and the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). These officers report to the CEO and are the main leadership for their particular department. For example, the CIO is the head of all information and technology departments of a company while the CMO is the head of all marketing.

In music, all major ensembles, non-profit organizations, major music venues, and educational organizations have executive boards. This would be a great role for someone who is looking to be a leader and have significant influence on the overall plans and goals of an organization.

Executive officers are expected to have at least a bachelor's degree and are often recommended to have a Master's or doctoral degree, especially in educational settings. Executives often need years of experience in their department or field before being considered for a leadership position. As an executive, most of the job takes place in an office setting but they may also be responsible for interacting with key donors or helping with major operations and have some flexibility in their work setting.
