The primary function of this position is to oversee the administration of payroll to an organization’s employee groups and/or visiting artists. Executing all aspects of the payroll process, they track and audit information entered into computer software like Workday, which employees use to organize their timesheets, benefits, bonuses, rate changes, tax information, and other personal information.
The payroll specialist coordinates information for new hires and terminations to assure proper data transfer into a central payroll system. They ensure payroll transactions are processed correctly and within the specified timeframe for accurate time, earnings, benefits, deductions, taxes, and other items that affect pay and/or company liability.
Supporting Human Resources processes, payroll specialists are responsible for drafting new employee offer letters, salary changes, terminations and any other employee-related data changes. They maintain knowledge of rules and regulations that govern payroll administration practices and ensure compliance with taxation, benefits, state and federal regulations, as well as how to manage payment to artists who may be based internationally.
