Publicists are employed to establish and maintain good public relations through their connections in a given industry using various media outlets.

A publicist is a spokesperson who is responsible for assisting clients in creating and telling their story to the masses. They use their connections to the press in various print, digital, and broadcast media outlets. They are involved in creative thinking and development of strategy to quickly identify opportunities where they can pitch story ideas to the press through the right media outlets at the right time.

Publicists produce creative messaging by understanding the major and minor details of the client/project, and they ensure that the client is presented in a compelling, relatable, unique way. Publicists are in constant communication with their clients and advocate for them at all times. They are always building relationships with the press and keeping an eye out for what the clients’ competition are doing. Aside from strategizing impactful media placements, publicists are responsible for things like creating status reports, media monitoring, and coordination of press materials under the direction of a Public Relations Director.
